I'm really Sick :(

I'm really sick with something different than my companion had. I'm going to get tested, but they think it might be Dengue.   We will see.   My entire body is aching like crazy.  I had chills to the bone.  I have a headache and sore throat.  I've been trembling a little bit because of the chills. It's been a rough day.  I'm weaker than heck too. I can barely walk.  I got a blessing.   I wanted to write a little bit just to let you guys know what's up.  The Zone Leaders are going to try to take me to the hospital.  Keep me in your prayers.

The following is an excerpt from Elder Bolton's blog who is Easton's Zone Leader. It tells more about Easton getting sick.

Elder Nielson (From Montecello, Utah) from our zone got really really sick after the activity we had as a zone. He was literally shaking in the chappel. So we took him home with us while his companion was with his district leader. He stayed with us for 2 night because he got so sick. At our house Monday night he was literally shaking like a dog under 2 jackets and 2 blankets. Plus he was throwing up like every 20 minutes. He threw up lood twice. The mission nurse couldn't really help us so we called a doctor from the ward at like 11:00pm at night and he told us to make him soup. The soup was terrible haha all we had were old noodles and salt. But we made him drink that masterpiece and after like 36 hours we cured him. We dropped him off with his companion Wednesday before lunch. He was so grateful that we "momed" him while he was sick that he tried to give us $40 when we saw him on Thursday for the district meeting. We obiously couldn't accept it but that was kind of fun freaking out in the house trying to cure him. All worked out in the end haha.

It was almost like it shined a little bit.

Hey everyone.  I don't have a lot of time today because today has been a day.  But I did have a pretty cool experience last night that I can share. Last night after almost all of our appointments fell through, we were contacting and I saw this house, I looked at it and something just was a little different. I didn't think anything of it at first, and we began to talk about where we were going to contact.  Well I looked at this house again and there was just something different about it.  It was almost like it shined a little bit.   I really dont how to explain.  Well we contacted it.  The lady that answered was really nice and she said she would like to meet with us sometime.   Well we were a little persistent, and we asked if we could share something right then and there.  Well she replied, "Well, I would but I'm not sure about my husband.   His mom died 3 days ago and his dad 7 months ago." Well he walked out right at that time and we asked to share sopmething. The husband just kind of shrugged like ya I've got nothin better to do.  He was pretty sad too.  Well we started talking to him and he asked us, "I want to know where my pàrents are right now?"  I replied, we'd like to tell you where your parents are right now.  We shared the plan of salvation with him and when we finished he said he finally had hope in the future and they accepted baptism and everything, but they need to get married.   Nonetheless it was incredible.   They are so cool and I'll be sure to let you all know what happens with them in the future. I love you guys . See you later.

Editor's note:  In a separate email, Easton told why this has been such a hard day.  His companion is very sick and not able to leave the apartment.  One of the ZL traded with Easton so he cold at least send this short email.  He did say that Quito is freezing compared to Esmeraldes and that he loves his new ward and mission leader.  We hope for more details and pics next week.

We received an early morning email telling us that Easton has been transferred to Quito.  He was boarding the bus to travel there when he emailed.  He wrote that his new companion was Elder Nielsen from Idaho and he was 6'10".   We will anxiously wait for his next update to learn more details.   Not sure if that will be today or next P-day.

Called to be Saints

Hola everyone, how's it going in the cold weather? Today in Esmeraldas it was hotter than heck. We did a service project and we almost died. It was hot. I hope New Years was all good. Here in Esmeraldas for new years they have a few traditions. The biggest one would be they build these wierd like manican things that they burn. They build him to look like their president or other famous people or lots of other things as well, and they burn them. They also drink, drink, drink, and drik some more. We saw the same group of guys go 4 days strong non stop haha. They weren't the only ones either. We stayed in the house and studied, and ate, and studied some more.  I certainly didn't make it to 12:00; well I did, I tried not to but there was so much music around our house that we didn't sleep at all that night, not a wink. The next day we were draggin oursleves through the day. It was a good week though.  We were able to find two new people that are pretty excited about everything so we're pretty happy. This week is changes, so I have no idea where I will be next Monday.  We will just have to see.  Well there is a cool scripture in 1 Corinthians 1:2 that reads,"Unto the church of God which is in Corinth,(or wherever in this case), to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our lord, both theirs and ours." I liked that part, called to be saints. It made me think of how in these latter days it is important to share the gospel and to be an example and to magnify this calling of a saint. The question is how?  Well we can find the answer in 3 places. 1 Thes 5:11,14-23. 1 pet 2:8-16, an 2 pet 1:3-10. My favorite is 1 Thes 5:11,14-23 which reads," v.11)," Wherefore, comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. v.14),". . . Warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. v.15),"see that none render evil for evil unto any man, but ever follow that which is good, but among yoursleves and too all men. v.16),"Rejoice evermore. v.17),"Pray without ceasing. v.18),"in everything give thanks. v.19),"quench not the spirit. v.20)," despise not prophesyings. v.21),"Prove all things, hold fast that which is good. v.22),"Abstain from all appearance of evil. v.23),"And the very God of peace sanctify yo wholly, and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our lord Jesus Christ." The other two are really good as well, but I like this one the best. Those who have the gospel have a tremendous blessing in their life. It would be sad to keep that to yourself.  That doesn't mean going and knocking on doors like missionaries, but representing this blessing in actions and sharing with those who are need or who ask to know more. To sum it up, it says in 1 tim 4:12," . . .Be ye an example of the believers in word and deeds and truth. . ." That is basically all I've got today. It was a good week this week. I hope life is treatin ya well back home. I Love you guys. Talk to ya next week.
