Hola Everyone! How's it going? I hope you're getting ready for general conference! Things are all good in Ecuador! This week was a pretty hard week, but it ended well so that was good. Stalin Daniel Chinchuña Toalombo and his little brother Edison Andres Chinchuña Toalombo got baptized this Saturday. We are still working on the parents but I think that the service was able to help the dad feel a little better about things. We still don't have a date planned for the parents, but they are progressing. The service was great. The two kids were both powerful when they bore their testimonies after. They talked about how they felt the spirit come over them and how they felt so happy and clean after. It was super awesome. As far as people with fecha we are working with Fausto Tixi for the 18th and Carmen Briones for the 18th. They are progressing really well and with General Conference coming up we are hoping to really help them get there. I'm super excited for GC. I can't believe it already came around again. Super fast! This week we were contacting and a 20 yr old guy was walking down the street and he looked really sad. I felt like we should contact him so we did, and he told us he had been asking God for a way to be happy in that moment. He has had a tough life up to now, and he doesn't have a whole lot of friends.   His mom died; his dad and him don't get along; and he just wasn't happy so we will be trying hard to se what we can do with him. He is a super good guy but hasn't had a great chance at life yet. He's studying and working and trying, but he just needs something more so we're going to try follow up with him. We were happy about that. This week was pretty normal apart from that. We are just working hard and trying to find people. I love the scripture in D&C 1:38.

What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse not myself; and though the heavens and the earthpass away, my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, whether by mine own voice or by the voice of myservants, it is the same.

With GC conference coming up, I invite everyone to search the talks because I know that they will give answers to all types of questions because they really do speak the words of Christ. I know that to be true. I love you guys. I'll to ya later! Hasta luego!

Well, I've got good news and bad news

Hola everyone. Well, I've got good news and bad news. The bad news, we didn't have a baptism this week. . .  The good news, we will be having it for sure this Saturday and I'm flippin excited. We got to the house of Flia Chinchuña last night and I heard the words I had been waiting to here for a few months now, "Elders, this Saturday I'm going to get baptized." I can not even begin to describe how good it was to hear that. This family has like four months now and we have done everything, and I mean everything to get to this point.  I'm super excited to get to this Saturday. The only thing is, is the dad still hasn't committed.  We hope Wednesday we can get that done. Nonetheless we are excited.  This week we were able to commit four people more to be baptized, and they attended church and everything so we are super excited. They are set to go for the middle of April.  So this week with divisions I was with an elder named Elder Leifer. He is from Utah and we got talking.  He asked me if I had ever went to Blue Mountain Scout Camp.  I said of course that camp is pretty much in my back yard. He said really, I went too.   Then he said, I remember one year there was a forest fire.  I about fell over.   I said, I was there that year.  Turns out we had attended the same camp like three yrs in a row, but wait it gets better.  Then he said, have you heard of Panguitch?  I said of course we played them in sports and had a lot of success;);););)  Then he said, my cousins are Keldon and Kyler Norris.  They ran cross country and played basketball.  I was like ya I know them as well;)  It was kind of crazy to get to talk to him a little haha.   He's a great elder though. It was great day. Just kind of funny that we might have met five years ago and not even known it. It has been super cold lately, a ton of rain, and I have been getting my moneys worth the big jacket I bought. It's freezing in my sector right now haha. Well just to end I was reading in 3rd Nephi today and I read something pretty cool.  In 3rd Nephi 11:7,"behold my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name." You ever thought about what God would say if he had to present us to a multitude of people? Would he say the same thing? Or would he say something different. It's really interesting to think about, when we look at ourselves and take a minute to think about that question.  God knows me better than I know me; would he be able to say the same thing about me?  I know if we can go about our lives striving to serve God so that we can hear those words we will be able to become closer to God. I love that the scripture and that is pretty much what I've got to share today. I love you guys. Ill talk to ya next week. Hasta luego.

We had a ton of success this week!

Hola familia? How's it going? This week was really good for us. We were able to do a lot of work, and it was awesome. We had a ton of success this week as well. People are accepting baptism like crazy. I just hope we can follow through with all of them. This week the familia chinchuña should be getting baptized which is super good. We have been with them for ever and now there are starting to feel good about things. I'll include a picture of them so you guys can remember who they are. This week we found a lot more people as well. I'll tell you what though, the mission is hard sometimes. This week, even though it was good, it really stressed me out. We are working in basically three different sectors, and we have people in all three and i'll tell ya, it's hard to balance that. Especially when the members from the three sectors expect you to be somewhere at sometime and then still managae all the people progressing. It's hard sometimes to keep everything straight. We have been busier than ever before lately. From the moment we wake up to the moment we go to bed, we have been super busy the last week. It's a good problem to have, but it is hard to balance sometimes haha. I just want to send a warning to Macee and Roman, if I dont have an autographed ball by Pete Rose the moment I'm back in the states, someone is going to get hurt!! I'm so jealous. This week was pretty normal like the weeks before. Nothing amazing has really happened recently. Just livin the life. Can't believe I've got 9 months in the mission. It's crazy how fast it went by. I've been reading a lot about Moroni and how he prepared the cities for the Lamanites and I love the symbolism of the story. He prepared in every way possible and the Lamanites couldn't do anything. It's the same with us and Satan. He's going to be atacking us forever but if we prepare ourselves like Moroni he really wont be able to do anything and we will be able to withstand everything the world can throw at us. One of the best ways is by reading the Book of Mormon every day. If we aren't reading everyday it's really hard to keep testimonies growing and to prepare ourselves for these things. I love you guys. I'll talk to ya next week. Hasta luego.

This week was Crazy!!

Hola everyone! This week was crazy. We worked like crazy finding more people and looking for more families to teach. We were able to find several families that have a lot of potential, but we will have to see what the future holds. Yesterday we were with familia chinchuña. We have been with them since the day I got here, and they still hadn't accepted baptism until last night. We brought a member with us that knows them really well and to say the least, he came to play. He talked to them directly and sincerely and they were really moved by what was said in the lesson, and they finally accepted baptism. I'm hopeful this month it will come to pass. This week not a whole lot happened other than this. A gigantic dog tried to eat us. I thought of the scripture in Phillipians 3:2, "Beware of Dogs." Paul was definitly feeling the spirit when he said those words. I'm not kidding though this dog is a perrazo in every form of the word. They named it Bear, and they did so with reason haha. We had a cool experience with the recent convert Marco this week. We showed a video about Joseph Smith and as the conversation got going he wanted to know how we know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet. Well we explained that he is succesor of Joseph Smith and all that, but he still had questions. Well ladies and gentleman I'm glad I'm from Utah because I could say, "Marco, I'm from Utah.   I've had the oppertunity to see these men, shake the hand of some, and even talk to some. I know that they are men chosen by God to be in their positions and that really we do have prophets and apostles today." Then he said, " Elder, I believe you. I can feel now that they are really prophets and apostles." It was a pretty powerful experience for me. But he is the man. That is really what I've got today. It was a pretty regular week. I like the scripture in Mosiah 22:2," And behold, all he requires of you is to keep his commandments, and he has promised you that if ye would keep his commandments ye should prosper in the land, and he never doth vary from that which he hath said, therefore, if ye do keep his commandments he doth bless you and prosper you." God has only asked us that we keep his commandments and if we do so, we never need to worry about the future. Trials will come but we will be just fine no matter what happens. I know this is true and I love you guys. I'll talk to ya next week.

Marco's baptism and they got me!!!

Hola famlia! What's up? Well I'll start like this, in the mission, I've seen several guns and several knives, but they hadn't ever got me for money- until this Thursday. The first day in the mission for my new companion and we got robbed at gunpoint. In other words, the wait is over haha. They got me! This week was pretty good though. I spent the first 3 days of the week with my Zone leaaders and we ate pizza hut every night. that was pretty awesome. Then  Thursday my new companion arrived from the CCM. His name is Elder Julio Andonaire. He is from Peru. He loves to cook, and he plays some pretty awesome instruments. This week we had a baptism. Marco German ugsha Imbaquingo was baptized and that completed his awesome conversion story. It was the coolest moment of my mission up to now. We are getting closer and closer with two more families. The work looks good, we are working hard, and I think we are going to have a lot of success pretty soon. I got surprised and was asked to confirm Marco as well. That was a surprise; I had no time to prepare or anything.   It was good though. His family is pretty much my own haha. It was awesome. This week was pretty uneventful. This is all that really happened. I love the scritpure in Alma 29:9 "I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me, yea, and this is my glory, that I might be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance, and this is my joy." I know this letter is short but I'd encourage everyone to strive to experience  this joy. It's real and I love what I've been able to experience. I love you guys. Talk to you next week.
